the space that works for you
Meet with me individually, join a group, or get outside for a walk.
I plan to offer in-person office sessions in the Greater Boston area soon.
Movement is medicine. Time in nature can be restorative and even facilitate the therapeutic process. Reach out to me to see if a walking session might be right for you.
Meet with me individually for weekly or every-other-week virtual sessions, combining relational approaches with the neurobiology of EMDR to heal the mind, body, and relationships.
There’s strength in numbers. Connect with men who have similar struggles and practice interpersonal skills to apply elsewhere in your life.
My style & Approach
Therapy with me is first and foremost a relationship that centers your goals and growth, and where you are invited to bring and express all parts of yourself. I draw from many schools of thought and tailor our work to help you become more self-aware, learn new coping skills, and process your life experiences.
Here are some approaches that inform my work:
-
A real encounter between two real human beings in therapy can be a window into transformation. This involves identifying the self-protective patterns you may be unconsciously repeating in your relationships, challenging ideas about who you should be that you may have internalized from others or cultural messaging, and exploring how psychiatric symptoms can be traced to deeper suffering. I am a gentle but directive therapist who will do this collaboratively with you to work through any barriers to a more fully felt relationship with your emotions and with others.

Recovering from PTSD, whether it be relational, sexual, complex, developmental, cultural, or intergenerational trauma, requires a caring and specialized approach because our minds and bodies learn ways to keep us safe which also unintentionally keep part of us living through the lens of the trauma. My first priority with my patients is building enough trust and safety - both with me and with yourself - to create a foundation for healing without retraumatization. I weave several approaches together (e.g., attachment therapy, polyvagal therapy, EMDR) under the umbrella of Judith Herman’s stage-oriented model, designed to build stabilization, allow for mourning and reprocessing, and promote empowerment and healing.
-
Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing is an exercise to recreate the built-in ability our minds have to move toward health when we sleep and dream. With EMDR, we bring this processing into sessions to help get “unstuck” when our emotions and bodies continue to hold onto traumatic experiences.

How we learn what it means to be a man has profound implications for our emotional and social lives. I respect and support the brave step of seeking help in a culture that teaches boys and men it is a sign of weakness, and I offer therapy as a tool to help you be a whole version of yourself. Finding healthy ways to cope with stress and pain can help address specific challenges many men face such as shame, anger, aggression, depression, loneliness, difficulties with vulnerability, intimacy, and conflict, father-son relationships, addictions (including substance use and sex, pornography, or gambling addictions), and others.
NB: I work with patients of any gender.
“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
